At CircleUp, we are dedicated to fostering a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all members and their guests. Our events are rooted in respect, community, and enjoyment, ensuring everyone has a positive experience. This Code of Conduct sets out the standards we expect from all attendees to maintain a friendly and supportive atmosphere.

By attending CircleUp events, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct. Any breach may result in appropriate action, including suspension or termination of membership. Serious matters may also be reported to the appropriate authorities.

Code of Conduct

1. Respect for All

   • Treat every individual with respect, kindness, and dignity, regardless of age, gender, race, cultural background, religion, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic.

   • Bullying, discrimination, or harassment of any kind is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

2. Appropriate Behaviour

   • Refrain from using language or actions that could offend, intimidate, or belittle others. This includes inappropriate jokes or comments of a sexual or discriminatory nature.

   • Conduct yourself in a way that reflects positively on CircleUp and respects the venues and partners we collaborate with.

3. Policy Against Sexual Harassment

   • Sexual harassment of any kind is strictly prohibited. Examples include, but are not limited to:

     • Unwanted physical contact, advances, or comments of a sexual nature.

     • Remarks about personal appearance or characteristics that are unwelcome.

     • Threats, rewards, or coercion used to solicit sexual favours.

     • Condescending or offensive remarks related to gender or sexual orientation.

4. Respect for Venues and Partners

   • Treat our partner venues and their staff with courtesy and respect. Any behaviour that disrupts the venue’s operations or harms relationships with our partners is unacceptable.

5. Fostering a Positive Community

   • Act as a role model for new and prospective members, creating a warm and inclusive environment.

   • Acknowledge and appreciate the contributions of volunteers and organisers who make CircleUp events possible.

6. Commitments and Attendance

   • Honour your commitments to attend events. If you need to cancel, inform the organisers as early as possible.

   • Pay any required fees for events or memberships promptly.

7. Alcohol and Conduct

   • Drink responsibly at events where alcohol is served. Members are encouraged to look out for one another and ensure a safe, enjoyable experience for all.

Complaints Process

1. Incident Reporting

   • If an issue arises, report it to us via email, WhatsApp, through the website, or any other communication method. We encourage open communication to address concerns swiftly.

2. Initial Review

   • The CircleUp team will review the report and may request additional details or evidence.

3. Temporary Suspension During Review

   • Depending on the nature of the complaint, the membership of those involved may be temporarily paused during the investigation.

4. Investigation

   • Information will be gathered from all relevant parties, and the facts will be reviewed thoroughly.

   • A meeting may be arranged with the involved parties to discuss the issue and provide further context.

5. Outcome

   • After completing the investigation, CircleUp will decide on the appropriate action. Possible actions include:

     • Verbal or written warnings.

     • Temporary suspension from events.

     • Conditions for future attendance (e.g., a restriction on alcohol consumption).

     • Termination of membership for serious or repeated breaches.

6. Communication of Decision

   • The final decision will be communicated in writing to all relevant parties.
